When choosing the perfect bridesmaid dresses, there are several things for you to take into consideration.
- Style of the wedding
- Colour scheme
- Shape of bridesmaids
- Dress design principles
If you are planning a morning wedding celebration, your bridesmaids’ attire should help set the desired atmosphere and ambiance of the wedding. Light pastel colours will work well to keep the mood light and give it a soft feel. A vintage theme will compliment your morning wedding and you can be very creative when it comes to invitations, decorations and dress code.
If you are planning a mid-afternoon wedding ceremony your bridesmaids can wear brighter colours that will go with your colour scheme. A great idea is have them wear different shades of pink (cerise, ruby, crimson), blue (aqua, turquoise, teal) or green (pale green, apple green, forest green).
When it comes to the dress design, you have quite a few options to choose from, but the easiest option would be the Infinity Dress. Your bridesmaids can either wear the same colour or each one can choose a different colour and change the style to fit her personality and body shape.
Again, the time of your wedding will influence the design of your bridesmaid dresses. You also need to consider your bridesmaids’ body shapes, because you don’t want anyone to feel self-conscious and uncomfortable. There are four basic body shapes, and we will advise which designs fit best with each body shape.
The Hourglass body shape - Your shoulders and hips are similar in size with a well defined waist and you can wear a Sheath gown to show off your figure's pros. Another option will be the Mermaid / Trumpet to emphasize your beautiful curves.
The Triangle body shape - Your hips are wider than your shoulders and to draw attention to your shoulders an A-line gown is the perfect option. The Empire's high waist keeps the focus on your petite upper frame while the flowing skirt creates a graceful line.
The Inverted Triangle body shape - Your shoulders are wider than your hips, and to create the perfect balance, a Short cocktail dress will draw the attention to your legs and great pair of heels ☺The Trumpet's slim bodice and flared skirt design will provide a flattering counterpoint to strong shoulders.
The Rectangle body shape - Your shoulders, waist and hips are similar in size so to add curves we would recommend an A-line design where you create an hourglass shape with a style that nips in the waist and flows gracefully to the floor.
